Darnaway

From Inverness:, Inverness-shire

Head along the A96 through Nairn & on towards Brodie Castle. About half a mile before you reach Brodie Country Fair there is a sign marking a right turn to ‘Darnaway 2’ – take this right turn (this turn comes up a quarter of a mile after the big ‘Welcome to Moray’ sign & just after the snow poles)

From Aberdeen / Forres:

Head towards Inverness on the A96 & about half a mile after Brodie Country Fare take the left turn, sign posted ‘Darnaway 2’.Both routes are now the same: –Head down this road & after 0.2 mile turn left & go immediately over a humped back bridge Follow this road & it sweeps left past the drive to a big house 0.8 miles after the humped back bridge turn right, signposted ‘Conicavel 2 Miles’ Continue straight on at the next cross roads & continue on to Conicavel & follow the road through the village Once through the village you will see the estate’s forestry buildings on your left , where there is a toilet here & water available – the estate is happy for people to use the facilities but it is right next to houses so please don’t walk dogs here as it could disturb people & lead to complaints. The forest entrance is just a little way further along (50 meters) from the forestry buildings on the right & will most likely have a banner up as well as a sign.

Course Description:

The race starts at a junction to 4 trails in the forest with a triangle in the middle. The start & finish(s) are all very close together & we want to get as many people parked down at the triangle as possible. Anyone parking around the triangle will be asked to put out stakeout lines in the parts of the forest next to it so as not to loose a parking place. The rest of the parking will be along the trail as you drive in on the LEFT only – please pull over to allow teams to get back to the vans. Do not turn vehicles around as there will be a one way system out of the forest through the 6 dog finish. This trail goes back on to the main road will be kept clear for emergency vehicles.
