From the North: approaching Scarborough along the A171, turn right after traffic lights for Scarboro’ Hospital, signed “A170 East Ayton, West Ayton, Thirsk”. Follow road to East Ayton. In East Ayton turn right at roundabout then in approx 500 m. turn right onto Castle Gate signed Forge Valley and Hackness 4 mls. Then follow directions as from the South

From the South:  along the A64 turn left at the roundabout to Seamer. Continue through Seamer towards East Ayton. In East Ayton continue straight on at roundabout then in approx 500 m. turn right onto Castle Gate, follow signed “Forge Valley and Hackness 4 mls”. () At the T-junction in Hackness turn left towards Langdale End. Continue through Langdale End Village passing the “Moorcock Inn” on your left to the top of the hill. Just over crest turn right onto a single track road signed “Birch Hall”. Bear left at the next fork then follow the road down over the small bridge and up the bank. Birch Hall Field Centre is the second gate on the left.
